Welding Protective Clothing

Welding protecting clothing is a very important safety measure associated with the welding process. They are very essential for protecting the welder from hazardous fumes, gases or any other accidents.

Protection of eyes and face of the operator needs to be protected from burns, flames or fumes.

Welding protective clothing is a must for major welding operations, although very minor welding processes does not require much protective clothing.

Types of Welding Protective Clothing
There are different types of welding protecting clothing available for welding like :

• Aprons
• Leggings
• Sleeves

It is advisable to wear aprons made of cotton, vinyl, whipcord and leather during welding.

Preventive Measures
Following types of clothing should be worn while welding :

• During welding, it is advisable to wear long-sleeved shirts in which collars and cuffs are tightly buttoned to neck and wrists of the welder.
• The welder should also put on flame-resistant hair covers and avert using inflammable hair products during welding.
• It is advisable to avert cuffed trousers during welding.
• Wearing flame retardant sleeves made of cotton also act as a protective clothing for welding.
• In addition to clothing, it is also essential to put on proper shoes for welding.
