Brazing Process
The brazing process is accomplished in a vacuum furnace under low atmospheric pressures. These furnaces can be classified as hot wall or cold wall on the basis of the position or location of insulating & heating components. Usually, cold wall furnaces are preferred and used in vacuum brazing.
The materials joined by vacuum brazing are usually bright and clean. This is because exceedingly low quantity of oxygen in the vacuum atmosphere reduces oxidation of surfaces.
Uses & Applications
Vacuum brazing machine is widely used for joining metals that are oxidation sensitive and for processing base metals. Some of its common applications are :
- Brazing base metals of stainless steel
- Brazing super alloys
- Brazing oxidation sensitive materials in aerospace industry
- Brazing carbon low alloy steels
- Thermal engineering
- Ceramics industry
