Plasma Cutting Process
The plasma cutting process makes use of a high speed jet of ionized gas at high temperature from a narrow aperture. The high velocity ionized gas, also known as plasma, passes electricity from the plasma cutter torch to the work piece. The plasma heats the workpiece and melts the material. The stream of high speed plasma mechanically drives off the molten metal away, thereby cutting the material. Various types of gases can be used for plasma cutting. But most frequently compressed air is used for the plasma gas. Plasma does not require fuel gas and compressed oxygen for its operation.
