Percussion Welding Machine

The machine is used for percussion welding process. This is a special type of resistance welding process. The welding method produces blending of the adjoining members by using heat from an arc produced by a quick discharge of electrical energy. The process is best suited for joining dissimilar metals that cannot be welded by flash butt welding, or when flash is not required at the weld joint.

Welding Process
This type of welding is very similar to flash and upset welding processes. The process makes use of electrical energy that is stored in a condenser in order to create a forceful momentary power discharge to provide the heating area at the interface. This is accomplished by applying pressure to provide an impact, which in turn brings the two parts together in an effective percussive manner. This process is mostly used for parts that have fairly small cross-sectional areas.
