Soldering Process
The process involves relatively low heat transfer between gas and the material to be heated. In this process, the temperature of gas is set to about 4000oC. To achieve a good heating rate the temperature of the gas must to be set to higher degrees. There is a need to allow a regulated flow of gas to the heater of the soldering instrument. This can be accomplished by passing some air along the leads carrying the electric power to the heating element. The air supply can also be used to cool the handle of the soldering machine.
Advantage of Hot Gas Soldering Machine
- Joining materials is relatively cheaper.
- It does not lead to mechanical damage of components.
- The machine reduces the risk of damaging the sensitive pad areas.
There are various fields where hot gas soldering machines are used. Some of its application areas are :
- Joining alumina substrates
- Metallurgical applications
- Automobile industry
- Soldering electrical components
- Soldering electronic components
