Welding Process
Forge welding is considered as the oldest of all metal welding process and is not in much use these days.Forge welding between similar materials is accomplished by solid-state diffusion. The process involves producing a weld that only consists of the materials and not any fillers or bridging materials.
For welding dissimilar materials, the forge welding process involves the formation of a lowest possible melting temperature between the materials. Because of this, various dissimilar metals are welded together resulting in superior properties of the weld.
Uses & Applications
The forge welding technique is an older welding process and has limited industrial applications. Some of the areas where it is used are:
- Steel industry
- Jewellery fabrication
- Fabrication work
- Metalworking
